      Strategi Peningkatan Kinerja Penelitian Dosen pada Perguruan Tinggi Berbasis Pesantren

      Abstract
      Perguruan Tinggi Berbasis Pesantren (PTBP) merupakan integrasi antara sistem perguruan tinggi dan pesantren yang disinyalir sebagai model perguruan tinggi Islam ideal karena berperan sangat penting dalam proses integrasi-interkoneksi antara ilmu pengetahuan (Science) dan ajaran Islam (Islamic teaching). Namun seperti halnya Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam (PTKI) lainnya, kinerja PTBP masih belum maksimal terutama dalam hal penelitian. Padahal, kinerja penelitian memiliki porsi paling besar di antara aspek lainnya dalam evaluasi penilaian kinerja perguruan tinggi baik pada taraf nasional maupun internasional. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini mencoba menganalisis lebih jauh terkait faktor-faktor apa saja yang dapat mempengaruhi kinerja penelitian dosen di PTBP, untuk selanjutnya dirumuskan alternatif strategi peningkatannya. Penelitian ini melibatkan 84 reponden yang terdiri dari dosen tetap pada 7 PTBP yang ada di Kabupaten Bogor, dipilih berdasarkan metode sampel acak terstratifikasi dalam proses pemilihan institusi dan metode secara sukarela dalam pengambilan responden dalam institusi terpilih. Data terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). Selain responden dosen, penelitian ini juga melibatkan 12 responden pakar dalam merumuskan strategi peningkatan kinerja penelitian dosen di PTBP Kabupaten Bogor, yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan Analiytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Hasil analisis SEM-PLS menunjukkan bahwa pada kompetensi penelitian, praktik manajemen HPWP, dan jarigan kolaborasi ditemukan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap peningkatan kinerja penelitian dosen di PTBP Kabupaten Bogor. Sementara itu, hasil analisis AHP menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor individual merupakan faktor yang paling berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kinerja penelitian di PTBP Kabupaten Bogor, terutama terkait kompetensi penelitian. Lebih jauh, analisis pemetaan aktor dan tujuan juga menemukan bahwa dosen/peneliti sendirilah yang merupakan aktor utama dalam peningkatan kinerja penelitian mereka, sehingga tujuan peningkatan kapasitas mereka juga menjadi prioritas utama. Dengan demikian, alternatif strategi terbaik yang dapat diterapkan oleh institusi PTBP Kabupaten Bogor adalah pelatihan dan pengembangan dosen di bidang penelitian. Alternatif strategi kunci tersebut dapat terimplementasi dengan lebih baik jika dibarengi dengan pengembangan budaya dan fasilitas penelitian, pengembangan sistem kebijakan reward dan punishment penelitian, serta optimalisasi peran lembaga penelitian dan publikasi ilmiah oleh PTBP. Setelah para dosen memiliki kapasitas yang mumpuni, institusi PTBP dapat mengoptimalisasi khazanah keIslaman dan kepesantrenannya untuk selanjutnya mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan integratif.
       
      Integrating two different systems between higher education and pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), Pesantren-based Higher Education (PTBP) is alleged as an ideal Islamic higher education model considering its critical role in the process of integration-interconnection of science and Islamic teaching. Like other Islamic higher educations in Indonesia, PTBP institutions represent poor organizational performance, particularly in research productivity and quality. Since research performance has the most considerable portion in the higher education performance evaluation both nationally and internationally, this study attempted to explore the factors that possibly affected lecturers' research performance at PTBP to further formulate alternative strategies for enhancement. This study involved 84 lecturers at 7 PTBP in Bogor, Indonesia, selected based on the stratified random sampling and voluntary sampling method. The collected data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). In addition, this study involved 12 experts selected through the snowball sampling method to formulate strategies for improving lecturers' research performance. The expert judgment was analyzed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results of SEM-PLS showed that only research competence positively affected research performance at the individual level, but not for work motivation and time management. Research culture and academic leadership insignificantly affected research performance. On the contrary, only high-performance work practice positively affected research performance at the institutional level. Collaboration networks at the resource level positively affect research performance, but not university research funding. Meanwhile, the results of AHP showed that among the others, individuals are the most influential factors in improving research performance at PTBP institutions, particularly of those related to research competencies. Actors and objectives mapping also found lecturers themselves as the main actors in improving their research performance, so building their capacity must be preceded. Hence, the best alternative strategy that PTBP institutions can implement is training and developing lecturers' research capacity. This primary alternative strategy can be optimally conducted by strengthening research culture and facilities, developing research reward and punishment policies, as well as optimizing research institutions and publication roles. Ultimately, PTBP institutions can only optimize Islamic and pesantren notions to develop integrative science with high-quality resources.
