The mixed fanning system is a system formerly used by the comm:writy an ancient traditional system agroforestry. The selection of tree species planted in the mixed farming system is based on the economic function while the soil conservation function was neglected. One of many factors in plant ecology to be considered in the selection oftrees in the mixed farming is the vegetation profile.
The research was located at Naga., Tonjong and Bantarsari Kampong in Neglasari village, Salawu subdistrict and Tasikmalaya district, West Java.
The results ofthis research: (a) there was interaction between the vegetation profile in the mixed farming agroforestry system and the litter production, the rate of infiltration, the rate of soil erosion, the water quality, the income of community and the socio cultural ofNaga Kampong, Tonjong and Bantarsari; (b) there was difference function of soil conservation among the mixed funning of Naga., Tonjong, and Batarsari Kampong.
The mixed fanning of Naga Kampong have the most function of soil conservation than the mixed farming ofTonjong Kampong, and more than the mixed farming of Bantarsari Kampong. In the mixed farming ofNaga Kampong, the rate of
litter productivity was 13.59 ton.ha-1.year-, the rate of infiltration was 4.72 ml.cm-2 minute-t, and the rate soil erosion 3.74 ton.ha-I.year-I_ In the mixed funning of Tonjong Kampong, the rate of litter productivity was 7.78 ton.ba-I.yeaf\ the rate of
infiltration was 2.02 ml.cm-2 minute-I, and the rate soil erosion 16.02 ton.ha-I .year-• In the mixed farming of Bantarsari Kampong, the rate of litter productivity was 9.01 ton.ha-1.year"l, the rate of infiltration was 2.48 ml.cm-2 minute-I, and the rate soil erosion 10.59 ton. ba-I.year-) .
