Formulasi Zeoponik sebagai Media Tumbuh Tanaman Hortikultura
Abstract
Zeoponic is a plant growth media made from zeolite mixed with other materials such as compost, cocopeat and fertilizers. The advantage of zeoponic is that it has a high cation exchange capacity (CEC) which can increase the buffering capacity of electrical conductivity (EC). The problem that needs to be solved is the grain size of the zeolite and the amount of fertilizers those need to be added to the zeoponic. This study was aimeds to find the appropriate size of zeolite grain and the appropriate dose of fertilizers so that the physical and chemical properties can support the growth of horticultural crops. The experiment was arranged using a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors, namely (1) zeolite grain size consisting of: 1 mm zeolite + compost + cocopeat with a ratio of 2:1:1 (Z1:K:C), and zeolite size 5 mm + compost + cocopeat in a ratio of 2:1:1 (Z5:K:C); (2) NPK fertilizer doses consist of : 0 g/l fertilizer (P1), 0.5 g/l fertilizer (P2), 1 g/l fertilizer (P3), and 1.5 g/l fertilizer (P4). Experiments were carried out on tomato, eggplant, and chili plants. Two-week-old plant seeds were transferred at the same time as the dose of fertilizer into a 25x25 cm polybag containing two liters of zeoponic. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, plant wet weight, plant dry weight at 4 weeks after planting, and analysis of nutrient levels in plant. Analysis of plant growth media was carried out by measuring water content, bulk density, pH, EC, available-N, available-P, CEC, base saturation, exchangeable bases, organic-C, and microelements. The results showed that the zeolite with grain size of 5 mm zeolite was better than the grain size of 1 mm zeolite and a dose of 1.5 g/l of NPK fertilizer was the best fertilizer dose. Based on plant analysis, micro-nutrients need to be added to zeoponic.
