      Abstract

Livestock transportation causes stress which results in physiological responses and weight loss of livestock. This study aimed to analyze the administration of coconut oil and dextrose to thin-tailed sheep before transportation. This study used 9 female thin tailed sheep aged 8-12 months with an average body weight of 14,61±2,50 kg. This study used a Randomized Block Design with 3 treatments namely control, administration of coconut oil as much as 4% of the dry matter concentrate given, and administration of dextrose as much as 2,24 g kg-1 body weight and grouped into 3 based on body weight light, medium, and heavy. Data were analyzed by Randomized Block Design followed by Duncan's test. The results showed that the administration of coconut oil and dextrose was not significantly different to body weight loss and physiological response, but significantly different to the length of reconditioning, namely the length of reconditioning of coconut oil treatment was faster than the control and dextrose treatment. The conclusion is that coconut oil given to thin-tailed sheep can accelerate the reconditioning period of the sheep's body weight.
