      Abstract

Aphelenchoides fragariae nematode is a plant parasitic nematode which have a very wide host range and cause significant economic losses in many countries. In Indonesia, A. fragariae is listed as a Quarantine Pests (QP) group A2, and has been reported infect sambiloto plants in Bogor and Sukabumi (West Java), shallot bulbs in Brebes (Central Java), Nganjuk (East Java), and shallot bulbs at several traditional markets in Bogor. Control practices in managing this nematodes has been done in many countries, especially in strawberry and ornamental plants. This study aims to inform the status, distribution, regulation, and management strategy for A. fragariae in the world as quarantine pests in Indonesia. The research was carried out by reviewing related literatures and collecting secondary data from scientific publications which included preemptive and responsive measures for A. fragariae management. In countries already infested with A. fragariae, integrated management is carried out by accommodating control techniques, including the use of good quality seeds that are free of nematodes, plant resistance, pesticides and good agricultural practices, such as sanitation, plant spacing, and reducing humidity.
