      Abstract

Rhipsalis (Rhipsalis baccifera) is an epiphytic cactus marketed as an ornamental plant. It has a unique segmented dangling plant structure with a beautiful reddish color at the tip of the shoot. This study aimed to determine the number of cutting segments and the proper planting media for the propagation of rhipsalis cuttings. The method used was a randomized block design with two factors and four replications. The number of cutting segments (one and two segments) is the first factor. The second factor is planting media (rice-hull charcoal, rice-hull charcoal + zeolite, rice-hull charcoal + chopped ferns, rice-hull charcoal + pumice). The rhipsalis cuttings executed has the percentage of rooted cuttings at 100% and the percentage of cuttings sprouting at 96.85%. The results showed that there is no interaction between the two factors. The two factors each affect the number of buds, articles/internodes, nodes, and segments, root length, branches wet weight and root wet weight. Two segments cuttings or rice-hull charcoal + chopped fern media showed the best cuttings growth.
