      Pengaruh Dukungan Sosial dan Komunikasi Orang Tua-Anak terhadap Motivasi Melanjutkan Sekolah pada Remaja di Perdesaan

      Abstract
      Motivasi menjadi salah satu hal yang penting dimiliki dalam diri remaja untuk melanjutkan pendidikan khususnya pada remaja di perdesaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik anak dan keluarga, dukungan sosial, dan komunikasi orang tua-anak terhadap motivasi melanjutkan sekolah pada remaja di perdesaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain explanatory study dengan teknik pengambilan contoh non-probability sampling dengan jumlah 483 anak Sekolah Menengah Pertama di lokasi terpilih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dukungan sosial tertinggi didapat dari ibu dan komunikasi antara ibu-anak masuk pada kategori tinggi. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi melanjutkan sekolah lebih besar peluangnya pada siswa perempuan. Selain itu, terdapat hubungan positif sangat signifikan antara variabel dukungan sosial dan komunikasi ibu-anak dengan motivasi melanjutkan sekolah. Berdasarkan model regresi yang dihasilkan, variabel usia ayah dan ibu, pekerjaan ayah dan ibu, dukungan sosial, dan komunikasi orang tua-anak memengaruhi motivasi melanjutkan sekolah pada remaja SMP di perdesaan.
       
      Motivation is one of the important things for teenager to continue their education, especially for teenager who lives in rural area. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of family and child characteristics, social support, and parent-child communication on motivation in continuing education among teenagers in rural area. This study used an explanatory design with nonprobability sampling technique with a total sample of 483 junior high school students. The result shows that the highest social support was obtained from the mother and communication between mother and child is in the high category. The result also shows that the increasing in motivation to continue education was greater in female students. Moreover, there is also a very significant positive relationship between social support, mother-child communication, and motivation to continue education. Based on regression model, the variables of father and mother's age, father and mother's occupation, social support, and parent-child communication influence the motivation to continue education among junior high school teenagers in rural area.
