      Abstract

Brucella abortus is the causative agent that most often causes Brucellosis in cattle. North Sumatra Province is one of the Brucellosis-free areas. This study aims to know the spread of Brucellosis in cattle farms in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. This study used a descriptive research method with a secondary data analysis approach obtained from the results of monitoring and surveillance of Balai Veteriner Medan and Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Deli Serdang 2016-2019. The results of the study show that even though the area has been declared free of Brucellosis, positive cases are still found in several cities/regencies in North Sumatra, one of which is in Deli Serdang Regency. The highest seroprevalence of Brucellosis in Deli Serdang Regency was in 2017, namely 9.41% (27/287) and the lowest was 2.82% (7/248) in 2016. Based on location, the highest cases of Brucellosis were found in Hamparan Perak District. Factors causing the increase in cases of Brucellosis are a semi intensive cattle rearing system and livestock traffic activities. The eradication effort carried out is test and slaughter.
