Knowledge is very important for both individuals and organizations, knowledge as a strategic resource in creating opportunities to increase organizational success. Therefore knowledge must be managed through Knowledge Management. One of the activities in Knowledge Management is Knowledge Sharing. Becerra-Fernandez (2010) explains that knowledge sharing is a process in which both explicit and tacit knowledge are communicated to other individuals. Nowadays, online communities can be used as a means of sharing knowledge. The process of sharing knowledge in the community is influenced by various factors, namely social capital, individual motivation, organization and technology. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the intention to share knowledge, to analyze the factors that influence knowledge sharing behavior, and to analyze differences in the characteristics of respondents on the factors that influence knowledge sharing intentions and behavior.
The study involved 128 respondents who were members of the Duta Rumah Belajar community. The sampling method uses probability sampling with simple random sampling method which is randomly selected and has the same chance of being selected. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, the Chi Square method and the Structural Equation Model Partial Least Square (SEM PLS) method.
The results showed that the Chi Square test showed that there was no significant relationship between the characteristics of gender, age, education level, years of service, marital status and employment status with each indicator on the four research variables, namely social capital (attachment, trust, and shared vision), individual motivation variables (self-efficacy, altruism and reciprocity norms), as well as technology variables (convenience and convenience), and knowledge-sharing behavior variables (getting and sharing). Meanwhile, the knowledge sharing intention variable has a significant relationship with individual characteristics.
The results of data processing by SEM obtained results from the four hypotheses tested, two hypotheses are accepted, namely the second hypothesis, namely individual motivation has a significant effect on the intention to share knowledge and the fourth hypothesis is that the intention to share knowledge has a significant effect on knowledge sharing behavior. While the rejected hypotheses are the first and third hypotheses where social capital and technology do not have a significant effect on the intention to share knowledge.
