Penerapan teknik konservasi tanah dan pengelolaan bahan organik serta hara fosfor untuk meningkatkan produktivitas tanah ultisol
Abstract
Low productivity of Ultisol is caused by some limiting factors, such as nutrient and organic matter content mainly low to very low, high concentration of Aluminum exchangable, pH <5.0. In addition, heavy erosion can drift soil nutrients and organic materials, hence, fertilizing becomes no longer effective and efficient. In order to increase it productivity, efforts are needed in terms of preventing soils nutrients looses and increasing the availability of phosphorus nutrient in the soil. The objectives of this research was to evaluate the application of soil conservation technique, soil organic matter and phosphorous management to increase Ultisol productivity. The research was conducted in Tulang Bawang District, Lampung. The soils used are from the fine textured of Acid Volcanic materials. Research was designed 9 treatments, which are P0: control; P1: no soil conservation technique + SP-36/season; P2: Stylosantes goyanensis strip + SP-36/season; P3: Flemingia congesta hedgerows + SP-36/season; P4: no soil conservation technique + SP-36 + organic matter; P5: no soil conservation technique + rock phosphate; P6: Stylosantes goyanensis strip + rock phosphate; P7: Flemingia congesta hedgerow + rock phosphate; P8: no soil conservation technique + rock phosphate + organic matter. The research results showed the technology package which gave no significant influence to some physical and chemical characteristics of the soils, as well as soil nutrients looses in overland flow. The result also showed the technology gave no significant influence to concentration of sediment and nutrient content. But, the soil conservation techniques can reduce sediment and nutrient losses by the Flemingia congesta and Stylosantes goyanensis hedgerows. However, the results also performed the significant influence of the technology package on crops (maize and cassava) growth and production. The techology package of SP-36 fertilizer application gave higher on corps growth and production than control and tecnology package of Rock Phosphate apllication.
