Keefektivan Komunikasi Masyarakat Aceh di Bogor Mengenai Pengelolaan Dampak Tsunami

Abstract

An explanatory research has been done to investigate the communication efectiveness of Acehnese community in Bogor on tsunami impact management. The objectives of this research are to analyze: (1) how far the communication efectiveness done on Acehnese community in Bogor on tsunami impact management and what factors influence the communication efectiveness, (2) how far the communication processes correlate with their individual environments, and (3) how far the communication processes correlate with their individual characteristics. This study was conducted in Bogor district and Bogor City from April until June 2006. The disproportional stratified random sampling, according to group and gender of Acehnese community, is used in determining samples. The respondents were 90 persons consist of 30 persons in each group (permanent Acehnese community, undergraduate students, and postgraduate students), divided into 15 male and 15 female. The result showed that: Firstly, the communication efectiveness of Acehnese community in Bogor expressed in their good knowledge on tsunami impact management. This is caused by their high communication intensity and media accessibility. Secondly, communication processes of Acehnese community in Bogor on tsunami impact management are influenced by their individual environments. The higher environments support the higher communication processes done. Thirdly, communication processes of Acehnese community in Bogor on tsunami impact management related to their individual characteristics. Individual characteristic aspects that influence the communication processes are their age, personal income, marital status, family relationship and motive.
