Penerapan Theory of Planned Behavior pada Perilaku Generasi Milenial dalam Pembelian Sayur Organik
Abstract
Organic vegetables are processed or produced naturally through standard organic production processes, which doesn’t use synthetic fertilizers, perticides, and other chemicals. The purpose of this study was to understand the buying behavior of organic vegetables in millennial generation in the city of Bandung with the Theory of Planned Behavior approach. This theory is intended to explain all behaviors where a person has the ability to exercise self-control. This study also tries to broaden the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) by adding one additional variable, namely health awareness, in the framework of the study.
The method used in this research is Descriptive Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS approach, the numbers of samples used was 208 respondents. Millenial generation respondents consisted of an age range of 21-40 years, the questionnaire was determined based on the non-probability sampling method used was quota sampling. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires online using Google Form which were distributed via WhatsApp and Instagram.
The results showed that respondents considered organic vegetables safer for consumption, since they did not contain pesticide residues and chemicals that were harmful for health. Respondents also said that they felt healthier after consuming organic vegetables, but consuming organic product would be healthier if accompanied by a healthy lifestyle. In terms of price, respondents said they did not mind the price offered, because something with higher quality would certainly have more benefits. Based on the results of SEM, which was processed using AMOS, it was apparent that the purchase intention variable has the largest influence on purchase behavior, indicated by the path coefficient of 0,984, which was the largest compared to the path coefficient of other variables. Health consciousness, which was the additional variable to the modified Theory of Planned Behavior model, has the most dominant influence on perceived behavioral control, which was indicated by the path coefficient value of 0,488.
