      Abstract

Pasaran Island is located in Lampung Province, located in Teluk Betung Timur District, Bandar Lampung City. Pasaran Island is considered polluted by microplastics due to high community and fishery activities. One of the fisheries activities on Pasaran Island is the cultivation of sandfish. The purpose of this study was to identify the abundance of microplastics and their characteristics based on the shape, size, and color of the gastrointestinal tract of sandfish (Holothuria scabra) cultured in Pasaran Island, Bandar Lampung. The microplastic characteristics observed were shape, color and size. The statistical test used was Kruskall-Wallis, and continued with Mann Whitney if there was a significant difference. The average microplastic abundance in the study was 57.42±50.61 particles/individual. The most dominant microplastic characteristic found in the gastrointestinal tract of aquaculture sandfish is fiber. Dominant microplastic color that is black color. Size of the microplastics was dominated by the size of 300-500 µm. The types polymers found after FT-IR spectroscopy are polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyprolylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), dan polyethylene (PE).
