      Keragaman Tanah Sepanjang Toposekuen Pendek dari Lereng Perbukitan pada Formasi Geologi Volkan Kuarter di Subang, Jawa Barat

      Abstract
      Topografi merupakan salah satu faktor yang menentukan keragaman tanah di suatu wilayah. Pemilahan spasial kondisi topografi yang meliputi aspek-aspek lereng sangat penting diperhatikan dalam penarikan Satuan Peta Tanah (SPT), khususnya pada pemetaan tanah detil. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui keragaman karakteristik tanah sepanjang toposekuen pendek yang terdiri dari segmen-segmen lereng berdasarkan ragam aspek lereng untuk melihat korelasi antar aspek-aspek lereng dengan karakteristik, klasifikasi, dan tingkat perkembangan dan pelapukan tanah. Penelitian dilaksanakan di PT. Perkebunan Buah Subang pada suatu toposekuen dengan panjang sekitar 1 km melintang dari puncak bukit hingga lembah di dekatnya. Toposekuen tersebut berada pada suatu formasi geologi dan zona iklim yang sama. Sepanjang toposekuen yang diteliti terdapat empat segmen lereng ditemukan karakteristik tanah beragam dan dijumpai korelasi antara beberapa ciri-ciri morfologi, tekstur tanah, dan kejenuhan basa dengan segmen lereng. Tingkat perbedaan beberapa keragaman karakteristik tanah yang dijumpai tidak seluruhnya menyebabkan perbedaan klasifikasi tanahnya yang termasuk ke dalam dua Subgrup yaitu Typic Dystrudepts dan Oxic Dystrudepts. Tingkat perkembangan dan pelapukan tanah pada toposekuen yang diteliti sulit diukur oleh parameter yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Terlepas dari lemahnya korelasi segmen lereng dengan karakteristik dan klasifikasi tanah yang dijumpai dalam penelitian ini, berdasarkan konsep dan teknik penarikan SPT khususnya untuk peta tanah detil, segmen lereng yang didasarkan pada aspek-aspek lereng tetap penting dijadikan dasar penarikan batas SPT, namun tidak selalu menjadi petunjuk pasti terkait sebaran individu tanah pada setiap kategori klasifikasinya untuk inter dan intra SPT.
       
      Topography is one of the major factors that determine the heterogeneity of soil in an area. Topographical separation that considers slope aspects is essential in the delineation of Soil Map Units (SMU), especially for the detail soil mapping. This study aims to determine the diversity of soil characteristics along a short toposequence consisting of slope segments based on various slope aspects to see the correlation between slope aspects with the soil characteristics, classification, and level of soil development and weathering. The research was conducted at PT. Perkebunan Buah Subang with the toposequence length of approximately 1 km across from the top of the hill to the nearby valley. The toposequence is located in the same geological formation and climate zone. Throughout the selected toposequence, four slope segments were found with variations in some soil characteristics of each and the correlations between the slope segments and the respected soil characteristics were indicated for few morphological feature, soil texture, and base saturation. Based on the analysis, the differences in some of the soil characteristics did not entirely cause distinction in soil classification which were classified into two subgroups, namely Typic Dystrudepts and Oxic Dystrudepts. The level of soil development and weathering in the toposequence was difficult to measure by the parameters used in this study. Regardless of the weak correlation between the slope segments with soil characteristics and classification, based on the concept and technique of delineating the boundaries of SMU, especially for detailed soil maps, slope segmentation based on slope aspects is still critical to be considered. However, it is not always a definite guide regarding the distribution of individual soil in each classification category for inter and intra SMU.
