Improving the production of biogas and methane from a mixture of tofu wastewater and probiotic (in the form of coconut water fermentation) with the addition of calcium nanoparticles in the form of Ca(OH)2 has been carried out. Ca(OH)2 was obtained by calcining chicken eggshells (CTA) at a temperature of 1000 °C for 5 hours and used to make the substrate environmental conditions suitable for degrading organic matter from a mixture of tofu wastewater and probiotics into biogas. The CTA calcined powder reacts with water vapor in the air to form Ca(OH)2. Afterwards, the CTA powder was milled for 1 hour at 700 rpm, then characterized by XRD and SEM-EDS. The results showed that the XRD pattern of CTA powder matched the XRD pattern of Ca(OH)2. Besides that, SEM images show that the morphology of Ca(OH)2 is irregular. The EDS characterization showed that calcium and oxygen elements were detected in samples with few impurities. The anerobic fermentation process was carried out for 30 days, 5 NP samples (added 5 g/L of Ca(OH)2 powder to the mixture) resulted the highest methane production of 64,17% from the total volume of biogas.
