      Abstract
Hyposidra talaca is one of the most important pest in tea plantation and can cause significant yield losses. To effectively control the pest we need, the biology of H. talaca needs to be understood. This study aimed to determine the effect of tea, suren, sengon, cinnamon, and sintrong leaves on the biology of H. talaca. The insect were reared on different host plants and were observed for longevity, fecundity, fertility, mortality, and feed consumtion. The longevity of male H. talaca on tea, suren, sengon, cinnamon, and sintrong are 62.13, 63.68, 63.09, 62.23, and 46.46 days respectively and the longevity of females H. talaca on tea, suren, sengon, cinnamon, and sintong are 58.66, 59.21, 58.89, 57.37, and 31.89 days respectively. The fecundity of H. talaca on tea, suren, sengon, cinnamon, and sintrong are 2720.67, 1967.33, 1482.67, 2872.33, and 2009.33 eggs respectively, while the fertility H. talaca on tea, suren, sengon, cinnamon, and sintrong are 84.00, 84.67, 75.00, 90.67, and 86.33 % respectively. The average rate of mortality in the life cycles of H. talaca on tea, suren, sengon, cinnamon, and sintrong are 5.5, 10.56, 13.33, 15.55, and 10.01 % respectively. Average total feed consumption rate of larvae of H. talaca on tea, suren, sengon, cinnamon, and sintrong are 1.97, 0.98, 0.77, 2.29, and 1.32 g respectively.
