Along with technological development, many multimedia services on the internet have been developed. One of the services is video streaming. The accessibility is the most advantage of wireless LAN. On the other hand, the Wireless LAN also has problem related to signal strength fluctuation that affect to the quality of streaming video transmitted. The quality of the signal strength has an important role in obtaining a good quality of streaming video. The quality of the signal strength is classified into four categories based on the percentage of received signal on the client side. The categories are Excellent (signal strength > 75%), Good (signal strength 45% - 75%), Fair (signal strength 20% - 45%) and Poor (signal strength < 20%). This research aims to analyze the impact of signal strength degradation to the quality of streaming video on various video bit-rates. The bit-rates are 256 Kbps, 512 Kbps, 768 Kbps and 1024 Kbps. The addition of background traffic is intended to test the streaming service on the busy network. The results showed that video streaming was running well if the signal strength is above 20%. Addition of 5 Mbps network load to the video streaming bit-rate is above 768 Kbps leaded the PLR to the value above 5 %. However the video quality resulted is still acceptable to the human visual system.
