The development of streaming teclmology has been increasing in line with the quality of service (QoS). QoS in video streaming applications were influenced by the quality of video and media transmission. Even though wireless network provides more flexibility than wired network, it limited to reliability and transfer rate. This thesis presents an experimental measurements ofMPEG-4 H.264 media streaming performance in an IEEE 802.l1g WLAN environment. The streaming server used in this research is Darwin Streaming Server (DSS), an open source version of the Quicktime Streaming Server (QSS). The mechanism for video streaming is implemented in Video-an-Demand (VoD). This experiment was conducted in the WLAN environment with scenarios withoutnaz client mobility and with client mobility. The videos used were in H.264 format with the bit-rate of 256 Kbps, 512 Kbps, 768 Kbps and 1024 Kbps. Media player used in client-side was the Quicktime Player that supports RTP streaming protocols. The data capturing were performed on the client side. The parameters to be analyzed were the total RTP packet video, total video RTP packet received, sequence errors, packet loss, and delay.
