Strategi to Overcome Poverty of Fisherman Community in Tioua Village South Tobelo District North Halmahera Regency

Abstract

The aims of this research are 1) to explain social economics condition of Tioua Village communities of South Tobelo District, 2) to identify dominant actors to reduce fisherman community poverty, and 3) to formulate the strategy to overcome poverty of fisherman community. The method that used to answer the social economic problems was descriptive analysis method. Data were literature collected through desk study and direct interview toward respondent. Beside that, to know key actors in poverty reducing in Tioua Village was used snowball method. Whilst to know strategy for poverty reducing, it was used SWOT analisys. Result of this research showed that there was income disparity between grouped fisherman, individual fisherman, and labour fisherman. It was caused by diferent, eventhough level of education such as elementary school, junior high school, and undergraduate. The key actor that dominant to reduce poverty in Tioua Village was local formal leader with conection value 0.58 and integration value 0.000. By using SWOT analysis showed that reducing poverty program in Tioua Village can be carried out by providing facility and infrastructure for fisherman to support production of fish for income protection of fisherman.
