dc.description.abstract | KS 01 is a low-carbon steel that susceptible to corrosion. Therefore, it needs a way to improve its corrosion resistance among which by providing a protective layer on its surface, such as by Ni-chitosan composite. Mass ratios of Ni solid or solution to chitosan in the composite were 4:1, 3:2, and 2:3. Conductivity test proved that chitosan film is an insulator while the Ni0-chitosan and Ni2+-chitosan composites were semiconductor. The corrosion rate was observed in water medium. The corrosion rate of KS 01 which was coated with Ni-chitosan composite was lower than the one without coating, and this results were given by the steel coated with the composites that had composition of 4:1 (solid), 3:2 (solid), and 2:3 (solution), with the corrosion rate of 36.322, 49.276, and 52.324 μm/year, respectively. | en |
dc.description.abstract | Logam KS 01 adalah salah satu jenis baja karbon-rendah yang mudah mengalami korosi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu cara untuk meningkatkan ketahanan korosi dengan pemberian lapisan pelindung, antara lain dengan komposit Ni-kitosan. Nisbah massa padatan atau larutan terhadap kitosan dalam komposit yang digunakan adalah 4:1, 3:2, dan 2:3. Uji konduktivitas membuktikan bahwa film kitosan merupakan isolator, sedangkan komposit Ni0-kitosan dan Ni2+-kitosan merupakan semikonduktor. Laju korosi diamati dalam medium air. Laju korosi logam KS 01 yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan logam tanpa lapisan pelindung diperoleh pada komposisi 4:1 (padatan), 3:2 (padatan), dan 4:1 (larutan) dengan nilai laju korosi berturut-turut sebesar 36.322, 49.276, dan 52.324 μm/tahun. | |
