Reformulasi Pengelolaan Sampah Rumah Tangga pada Sumbernya Berbasis Komunitas
Abstract
The uncreasing of Populastion density is the main caue of solid waste management problem in almost many cities. Conventionally, municipal solid waste management has been the responsibility of local government, with land filling yhe most predominant method of disposal. Local community-based initiatives generally arise because local governments are unable to cope with the rapidly expanding demands made on the formal waste management is the stakeholder participation to reduce and recycle a waste before disposal. Case study in Wedamartani (Sleman, Yogyakarta) and Banjarsari (South Jakarta, Jakarta) gave alternative perspective to waste minimization and recycling scenarios by combaning technical, ecological, economic, socio-ciltural, policy and institutional aspects. Synthesis pattern of waste management supported household to separate waste before disposal and empower waste pickers to make compost from the organic matter. Waste management based on community gave some advantages such as: 10 reducing 57% to 70% from totally amount of waste; 2) cost efficiency 23% to 37% than conventional management; 30 economic added value by selling recyclables, recycle training service and diversification; 4) create social harmony by interactive among the people. The synthesis pattern implementation in Bogor has not done optimally yet. Synthesis pattern can reduce waste up to 58,8%. Operational cost is not covered by waste management fee.
