Dinamika Penggunaan Lahan dan Penataan Ruang Kabupaten Bekasi
Abstract
Bekasi Regency is a strategic area since it shares borders with Jakarta. This gives the inhabitants opportunities directly or indirectly to Jakarta’s economic power. The rapid development implies soaring requirements of space to assist various utilizations such as governmental uses, trade/commercials, services and industry. In Bekasi case, the development has been aided by availability of existing facilities, including road infrastructures. The aims of this research are to assess the dynamics of population and economic growth, spatial arrangement and their relationships to land use changes in Bekasi regency between 1995 and 2009. Methods to achieve the goal include remotely sensed image processing and statistical inquiries which consist of correlation and stepwise regession analysis. This research revealed that main land use alteration involves upland and rice fields and is largely converted to residential, industrial area or other services. Nonetheless, overall changes are insignificant during 15 year of observation. However, it is shown that land use modification tends to occur locally or clustered along Tambun, Cibitung and Cikarang zones, in particular between 2000 and 2006. During 2006-2009 period, the changes spreaded across the residency, except Bojongmangu district. It was found that the main driving factors influencing land alteration in Bekasi Regency are accessibility to road networks, rapidly-growing population, expanding facilities development and space allocation.
