dc.description.abstract | Fat tail sheep is one of the Indonesia’s local sheep that is popular to breed because they have many advantages. This study aimed to examine the populationstructure and rate of inbreeding fat tail sheep in Panekan Sub-distric, Magetan Regency. This research used the survey method with purposive sampling. The samples used in this research was fat tail sheep in Ngiliran village, Wates village,
and Banjarejo village. The variables were calculated in this study, namely the number of ram (Nm), number of ewe (Nf), number of lambs, number of male and female calves, actual population (Na), effective population size (Ne), and the rate of inbreeding (ΔF). The result showed that the total population fat tailsheep in three village was 442 head ofsheep. The population structure consist of 125 rams (28%), 158 ewes (36%), 31 lambs (7%), 31 young rams (9%), 53 young ewes (12%), 38 male lambs (9%), 37 female lambs (8%). The actual population (Na) of fat tailsheep was 279 heads of sheep. Rate of inbreeding of fat tail sheep in Panekan sub-district was 0,17%. The status of fat tail sheep in Panekan Sub-district waas classified as safe to be seen from the population structure and inbreeding rate. | id |
