Analisis gender terhadap kelembagaan koperasi bina usaha (KBUW) di Kelurahan Cipageran Kecamatan Cimahi Utara Kota Cimahi
Abstract
Increasing Program of Women’s Role in Developing a Healthy and Prosperous Family (P2WKSS) is one of government’s programs in empowering women to handle the poverty problem. One of the activities of these programs is Koperasi Bina Usaha Wanita (KBUW) establishment. The purpose of this activity is to give some loan as for poor family to run a business, especially for women who have an ability to run a business in increasing their family income. Nowadays, KBUW is facing a main problem that is a woman cannot participate to the KBUW program. In analyzing this problem, the writer studies this problem by using the Harvard and Longwe Empowerment Analysis. Longwe empowerment analysis is one of the ways to see women empowerment aspects by using five dimensions, which are welfare, access, critical awareness, participation and control. Before using the Longwe Empowerment Analysis, the writer used Harvard Analysis to analyze the separation of men and women role in both household and KBUW activity. The Harvard analysis result shows that women are more active than men. This is much influenced some women to participate in KBUW activity. Longwe Empowerment Analysis with its five dimensions shows a negative result, it means that empowerment of women in participating on KBUW activity cannot be reached. It also shows the involvement of women in KBUW activity is not based on their awareness and they are not involved in making decision to use some loans and pay the installment. The consequence to women is they don’t feel the advantage of this program such as to increase their knowledge, to increase their family income, and to full-fill their own needs. Based on the studies, the activity plan that should be done are strengthening the organization KBUW and strengthening target program (women). Hopefully, they will notice that the program is given for their own empowerment and finally women can use KBUW optimally and participated actively for the continuity of KBUW activity.
