The aim of this research is to develop the abrasive roll type of Buru Hotong (Setaria italica (L). Beauv.) grain polisher. Food deficiency problems, is one of unsolved problem in the world. It happen because of an inequality of humans grows acceleration and food stocok. Indonesia which has large amount of land and human resources has a great potential of producing and developing an alternative foods to solve the food deficiency. Buru hotong (Setaria italica (L). Beauv.) is one of special plant at Buru island Maluku, that can be an alternative of food resource plant especially as staple food. The main problem in Buru Hotong postharvest technology is how to husk and polish the pericarp. For the time being they mainly use manual tool like "alu" and "lesung" for roce husking in the ancient time. Polishing of Buru hotong aimed to broke the pericarp and separate that with minimal damage of the endosperm. The performance testing shows capacity of abrasive roll type polisher was 15.4 kg/hour, yield 62.2%, polishing degree 96.36%, and cleaning effectiveness 94.66%

Plat penetration resistance on paddy soil was measured for determination of a lug wheel design parameters.  A penetrometer aquipped with palt tips (three plat sizes) was used for soil penetration measurement at 30o, 45o, 75o and 90o penetration angel, at the depth of 2,5 cm, 5 cm, 7,5 cm, 10 cm, 12,5 cm, 17,5 cm dan 20 cm.
