dc.description.abstract | Upland agricultural landscape in upper part of Cisadane watersheds is one of the important of upland farming systems related to land degradation due to erosion. Agricultural landscape on soil conservation is the important issues to support on maintenning of natural resources. The research was conducted in the Sukaharja
Village (471 - 1276 m asl), Cijeruk Subdistrict, Bogor District on May to August 2009. The research aims was to find out the specific soil and water conservation techniques, suitable to the existing agroecosystem and potentially can be developed to the others locations that have a similar type of agroecosystem. The research has been done through a survey method that was consists of two phases. namely: 1) The field survey to detennine the local agroecosystem conditions related to the existing soil and water conservation practices. 2) Semi structural interviews using the keys questions to explore the constraints of implementation practices of soil and water conservation techniques. The results showed that the dominant type of upland used (40%) was seasonal crops and agroforestry such as cassava. maize. pineapple. taro in monoculture or intercropping systems. Soil and water
conservation techniques recommended in this upland were improving bench terrace quality (terrace strengthening plants, terrace channels, water ways and drop structures). vegetative conservation techniques (strip cropping. alley cropping. grasses water ways, planting grass and or legumes tree crops). and water conservation techniques (fann reservoir, ditch). There were many constraints to implement conservation techniques such as land ownership status. lack of capital, fanners knowledge. and limited manpower. | id |
