DAYA TAHAN HIDUP SPERMA KUCING DOMESTIK (Felis catus) DALAM BERBAGAI BAHAN PENGENCER PADA SUHU 5°C
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate Tris f ructose egg yo lk, Tris trehalose egg yo lk and Tris fru ctose trehalose egg y olk in maintaining the quality of domestic cats chilled semen at S °C. Semen was collected fro m three sexually mature cats by electro-ejaculator (three repetition n = 9). Immed iately after collection, semen was evaluated macroscopically and microscop ically. The semen showed > 70% sp erm motility divided into three tubes and each of them diluted with Tris fructose egg y olk (TFEY), Tris trehalose egg yo lk (TTEY) or Tris fructos e trehalose egg y olk (TFTE Y). Semen was stored at S°C and observed for percentage of sperm motility and individual progressive movements (scoring) every 12 hours until 60 hours of storage. Descriptively the results showed that TFTEY was the best diluents in maintained the motility of cat 's sperm (29.63 ± 18.76%) after 60 hours storage, but no significantly difference (P >O.OS) was fo und between three diluents in mainta ined the sperm motility at S °C statistically . For individual p rogressive movements descriptive as well as statistically indicated no significant between three diluents which were 2.06±0.42, 2.06±0.42 and 2.2 ±0.94 in TFEY, TTEY
and TFTEY respectively .
