Penerapan Teknologi Budi Daya Hortikultura Spesifik Lahan Gambut di Desa Sering, Kec. Kerinci, Kab. Pelalawan, Provinsi Riau

Abstract

Development of Horticulture on peatland has own challenges at Sering Village, Pelalawan District, which is targeted the pilot project because it has deep peatland characteristics. Peatlands needs special management in order to be used as agricultural land optimally. The program is carried out to provide added value and optimum benefit for the people around this area. Since 2013 until 2014 PKHT IPB in cooperation with the community development (CD) RAPP Riau has studied the potential development of horticultural commodities on peatlands. The objectives of this program are to obtain technical data of peatland condition, to adapt some potential of horticultural crops on peatland microclimate, and to apply cultivation technology of horticultural crops specificied on peatlands, to establish 2 hectares of farming system, and to make technical cultivation guidance of horticultural crops on peatland. The achievements obtained of this program are: (1) technical data (physical and chemical condition) of peatlands on Sering Village; (2) Establishment of farming systems for 2 hectares; (3) Disemination of horticultural cultivation technology on peatland; (4) To obtain potential horticultural crops and adapted on peatland condition; (5) performed group of farmers namely Fokus Mandiri.
