dc.description.abstract | Th e application of guava Psidium guajava var. pomifera leaf extract was studied on Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) to lowering metabolites excretion during transportation. Th e extract was added to a transportation medium with concentration 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, and 0.75% (v/v). Quality parameters of the medium were evaluated every 30 min within 2 hours of simulated transportation. Blood glucose level of the fi sh was measured before and aft er simulation. Th e addition of P. guajava leaf extract reduced metabolites excretion during transportation. Blood glucose levels of the fi sh transported in 0.25 and 0.5% leaf extract were higher than control (0%), but lower in 0.75%. Th e best concentration of extract for Nile tilapia’s transportation was 0.25%. Th is extract reduced fi sh metabolite excretion and maintained conditions of transport media better compared with control and other treatments. | id |
