      Abstract
Islamic banking has grown rapidly, but it is still far enough compared with the conventional banking. This is shown by the number of third party funds (DPK) of conventional banking which is almost 20 times higher compared to the number of sharia banking’s third party funds (DPK). This study analyzes the factors that affect customer preference for Islamic banks and the customer's perception of the Islamic banks. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Primary data was gained from 30 respondents of Islamic banks costumer and 30 conventional bank customers. Factors that affect customer’s preference for Islamic banks are analyzed using logistic regression method, while the factors influencing customer's perception of the Islamic banks are analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of logistic regression show that the factors that affecting customer preferences towards Islamic banks are Education, Knowledge, Household Expenditure and Facilities. The results of the customer's perception show that the Islamic banks are good enough. This can be seen from the services which has the highest mean value of 3.53, knowledge of 3.31, institution image of 3.08, facility of 2.88, accessibility of 2.85, and promotion of 2.61.
