Abstract

Development of Indonesian swamp buffalo productivity is less encouraging. Field of observations results, low productivity of buffalo caused by the relatively low reproductive efficiency. Contributory factor in increasing reproductive efficiency, among other ensure the availability of forage high quality. Buffaloes maintenance, highly dependent on the availability of natural forage, based on low or high plateau, because a traditionally. Height difference led to the availability forage high quality be diffirent, so can affect characteristic in reproductive efficiency. Characteristic observation of reproductive were analyzed by first oestrous, pregnancy period, postpartum unoestrous and body condition score. Buffalo at low and high plateau had characteristics of reproduction was not a different, but in terms of body condition score, buffalo at high plateau of relatively better with supported quality forage more than exemplary, lenght of season with availability, and comfort zone.
