      Pemanfaatan bakteri endofit untuk meningkatkan Pertumbuhan dan kesehatan tanaman padi gogo

      Abstract
      Bakteri endofit adalah bakteri yang hidup di dalam jaringan tanaman tanpa menimbulkan gejala sakit pada tanaman tersebut. Keberadaan bakteri endofit banyak mendapat perhatian karena potensinya dalam memacu pertumbuhan dan kemampuannya dalam meningkatkan ketahanan tanaman terhadap serangan penyakit tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi potensi bakteri endofit yang berasal dari padi gogo dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan ketahanan tanaman terhadap penyakit blas. Sebanyak 12 isolat bakteri endofit telah dilakukan pengujian terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman padi gogo varietas Kencana Bali dan kemampuannya dalam menekan penyakit blas yang disebabkan oleh cendawan Pyricularia sp. Hasil evaluasi di rumah kaca menunjukkan perlakuan benih padi dengan bakteri endofit dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman dan mampu menekan serangan penyakit blas yang disebabkan oleh P. grisea pada tanaman padi gogo hingga 66%. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa bakteri endofit berpotensi dalam memacu pertumbuhan tanaman dan meningkatkan ketahanan tanaman terhadap serangan penyakit pada padi gogo.
       
      Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that live inside plant tissues without causing symptoms in these plants. The presence of endophytic bacteria have gained more attention because of its potential to promote the growth and ability to increase plant resistance against plant diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of endophytic bacteria isolated from upland rice to increase the growth and the resistance of rice plant againts blast disease. A total of 12 isolates of endophytic bacteria were tested for their effects on the growth of upland rice varieties Kencana Bali and its ability to suppress blast disease caused by the fungus Pyricularia sp. The results of the evaluation showed rice seed treatment with endophytic bacteria can enhance plant growth and suppressed the blast disease on upland rice crop in the greenhouse up to 66%. This indicates that endophytic bacteria have the potential in promoting plant growth and increases plant resistance to disease on upland rice.
