This study was performed to identify rate and driving force of deforestation and degradation occurred in Lamandau and Kotawaringin Barat, Central Kalimantan Province. The study objective is to identify the rate and driving forces of deforestation as well as forest degradation using medium resolution image, Landsat TM. The classification method used to detect and analyze deforestation and forest degradation was visual interpretation, then followed by thematic change technique. Identification of deforestation and forest degradation driving force was done using a depth interview. The results of study show that the deforestation rate during the period of 1990-2013 is 56 408.3 ha/year, while forest degradation rate is 36 195.0 ha/year.
