      Abstract
Hairtail fishing vessel is one of the fishing vessels in Palabuhanratu fishing port with hairtail as the main catches that have high production values. Many fishermen are often absent because they feel tired and experience aches and pain in several parts of their body. Presumably, it is because incorrect posture when fishermen move on vessel, uncomfortable working area and facilities on vessel, or fishermen’s energy imbanlance. Furthermore this research is related to ergonomics and also its derivatives such as biomechanics, anthropometry, and energy balance are expected to design better system on hairtail fishing vessels. The purpose of this research were to analyze hairtail fishermen’s posture when fishing operations occur, to analyze anthropometric data from hairtail fishermen to determine the ideal size of are and facilities on vessel, and also to analyze the correlation between energy intake and energy needs of hairtail fishermen. The method used in this research was a case study method with descriptive data analysis. Posture analayzis showed that there were still about 45 % of 22 hairtail fishermen’s postures which need to be improved. Based on the fishermen’s body anthropometric data, it was found that the right size of seat height was 39,42 cm; table height was 59,7 cm; the minimum widht of table was 33,14 cm; the distance of table from the set was -11,7 cm. Energy balance assesment showed that only 10 % of fishermen of hairtail fishing vessel who met their energy needs.
