Typhoid fever and gastroenteritis infectious diseases are still the most health problem in the tropical area especially in the developing countries. Caulerpa racemosa is green alga which is potential for pharmaceutical product and most of coastal people usually use this seaweed for treating burns. The aim of this research was to determine the antibacterial activity of Caulerpa racemosa against typhosa and gastroenteritis-causing bacteria. Antibacterial activity was determined by agar diffusion method. The yield of the Caulerpa racemosa extract by soxhlet method was 17.28%. The biologically active compounds contained alkaloid, tannin, phenol hydroquinone, flavonoid, steroid, and terpenoid. C. racemosa extract inhibited the growth of S. Typhimurium, S. Enteritidis, and S. Typhi with the diameter of inhibition zone was 1.5-15.5 mm. The MIC value for maceration and soxhlet extract againts the three test bacterial was 0.5 mg/mL.
