dc.description.abstractRiau province has become one of the province that suffered from forest and land fires. Forest and land fires in Riau Province occur every year in the last decade. Climate is one of the natural factors that can lead to forest and land fires in Riau Province. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between rainfall and hotspots in Riau Province in 2013 and to provide the most area suffered from forest and land fire occurrences. This study showed that the dry season in Riau Province in 2013 occurred from April to September with peak dry season in June, which was followed with an of hotspots. This study shows that rainfall affects forest and land fires in Riau Province in 2013. Around 6.52% of at Riau province was burned in 2013. Highest number of hotspots and largest area burned area montly occurred at Rokan Hilir with 3 128 hotspot and 150 225.40 ha burned area, Bengkalis 3 021 hotspot and 133 615.67 ha burned area, and Pelalawan 2 097 hotspot and 115 353.42 ha burned area.en
