dc.description.abstractThe time has now arrived to exploit all modern tools available by bringing information technology and agriculture science together for improved economic and environmentally sustainable crop production. Precision farming is generally defined as an information and technology based farm management system to identify, analyze and manage variability within fields for optimum profitability, sustainability and protection of the land resource. The goal is not new, but new technologies now available allow the concept of precision agriculture to be realized in a practical production setting. Variable rate application is the most widely used precision technologies. Quality of product is one variable concerning in harvesting technology which is supporting the precision agriculture technology. Electrical measurement provides the opportunity for simple, low cost, and quick assessment of product quality. The electrical behavior of Garut citrus fruits have been studied using impedance measurement at various levels of acidity, sweetness, firmness, and frequencies. This research has been done as a step in order to study the quality of citrus that do not damage it. So, the aim of the present study was to investigate the behavior of electrical properties of citrus fruits as variability input in harvesting technology to support the precision agriculture technology. In this research, Garut citrus were analyzed for electrical properties related to qualities. Electrical parameters per unit of weight were used in this study to compensate variations in weight. Electrical impedance, resistance, inductance and reactance per weight of citrus fruits will decrease if the frequency is increased. To indicate the fruit maturity and quality, we used the physicochemical properties, i.e. firmness, total soluble solids, pH, and hydrogen ion concentration. The value of resistance, impedance, inductance, and reactance per weight were declined during citrus fruits maturation. The correlations between electrical and physicochemical properties are investigated too. The highest consistency of correlations is happen at a frequency of 1 MHz.en
