dc.description.abstract | Studies reported that probiotic Enterococcus faecium IS-27526 have significant effect on health of elderly. Addition of E. faecium IS-27526 to the biscuit cream is expected to inhibit the growth of E.coli in the intestine of the elderly people. The aims of the study is to observe the efficacy of feeding diet containing functional biscuit enriched with sweet potatoes and catfish flours to fecal coliform. Different composition of biscuit cream with and without sweet potatoes flour were used and 4 weeks feeding trial using Sprague Dawley rat was conducted in this study. The study assessed profile fecal microbiota. Adding probiotic on biscuit Cream reduced the number of fecal coliform regardless the presence of sweet potatoes flour. Biscuit with Sweet potatoes flour showed the best product increased fecal lactic acid bacteria, and tend to reduced the fecal coliform of rats. | en |
