Anemia is still a public health problem in school-aged children living in endemic area of iodine deficiency disorder (IDD). This condition might be worsen if the children have moderate or severe Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM) and IDD. This interaction will be observed in this study. This study was aimed to investigate some biochemical parameter levels in school-aged children with iodine deficiency in endemic area of Boyolali Regency, Central Java. The exploration study design is implemented. The sample of study school-aged children (/0-12 years) with iodine deficiency and PEM problem and atributed 6-10 sign of cretinism. A number of 57 children were selected as study sample. Sampling was conducted purposively. Plasma of Fe, Haemoglobin (Hb) levels, Haematochryte (Ht) levels, and score of index Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobine (MCH) and Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobine Concentration (MCHC) activity were determined. The study showed that the prevalence anemia microcytic 36.84% macrocytic 63.16% (based on score of MCV); microcytic anemia 24.56 % macrocytic 8.78 % and monocytic anemia 66.66% (based on score ofMCH); types ofhipochromic anemia 1. 75%, hiperchromic 8.78% (based on score of MCHC). All of children had PEM problem (Moderate of PEM 85.96%, Severe of PEM 14.04%) The more severe of PEM, the more atributes/sign of IDD were appears. In addition the more severe the PEM, the type of anemia increased significantly.
