PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT MELALUI DIVERSIFIKASI PRODUK PERSUTERAAN ALAM DI TEACHING FARM SUTERA ALAM IPB
Abstract
Sericulture can't be separated with mulberry tree. Mulberry as a feed for silkworm, has great potential to be developed as by-products for farmers silk. Several recent studies have claimed that the mulberry leaf health benefits because it has potential as fitofarmaka (herbal medicine). One form of herbal medicine is the tea leaves. Tea derived from mulberry leaves efficacious to lower blood glucose levels of diabetes mellitus. In addition, toxicity tests have shown that mulberry tea are included in the category are not toxic. Institutions involved in these activities is the Research Center for Tea and Quinine (PPTK) Gambung, Bandung and Teaching Farm Alam Sutera Sukamantri IPB, Bogor. Role PPTK is where mulberry tea processing, while the farm is a teaching role as a supplier of mulberry leaf and marketing of finished products. The packaging of Mulberry tea is done by empowering the rural community. The results showed the success of this activity in an effort to increase income farmers' mulberry and community empowerment, particularly of women around the circumference IPB campus. They now have their own income without taking up much time, and can be done in the house.
