dc.description.abstractPerceptions of the Javan slow loris are the responses to, and understanding of this Javanese prosimian. It captures the senses sight, hearing, smell, feeling and reasoning through a mental process, which will be the motivation, strength, encouragement or presseure to perform a certain behavior. This study aims to acquire knowledge of the perception of the local community in Cipaganti village regarding the Javan slow loris and to determine the relationship between the perception of the villagers of Cipaganti and their behaviour towards the javan slow loris. Perceptions in Cipaganti village as a whole can be seen as appropriate behaviour of the Javan slow loris, the Javan slow loris has benefits, and has economic value. Furthermore they believe in various traditional myths surronding the slow loris and perceive it as dangerous. Respondents generally do not approach a slow loris when sighted and assume that if humans not disturb these prosimians, the javan slow loris will not interfere with or even attack humans.en
