Pengembangan Modul Visualisasi Perubahan Stok Karbon pada Perangkat Lunak REDD Abacus
Abstract
Carbon emission reduction from forest deforestation and degradation becomes a problem focus in the attempt to cope with climate changes. Deforestation was estimated to release carbon in the order of 1-2 billion tons per year in 1990, about 15-25% of greenhouse effect gases in the whole world. From those data, it is urgently needed to monitor carbon stock changes. Visualization is a common technique used to monitor the condition. REDD Abacus, developed by ICRAF, provides carbon stock changes information, but it lacks visualization. This research presents a development of carbon stock changes visualization module to supplement the REDD Abacus. This module can visualize carbon stock changes in a region in one period of changes. It is developed with uDig platform. The module can generate visualization map in 2 formats, i.e., vector and raster. Processing with pixel calculation is executed when the user needs the map result in raster format, taking 3-4 seconds. Processing with spatial query is executed when the user needs the map result in vector format, taking 10-15 minutes.
