Abstract : Chitosan flake-cross-linked by glutaraldehyde as an adsorbent has been done to investigate the adsorption of Au (III) from cyanide solution. Batch adsorption system was carried out by three of various parameters, such as pH, contact time and adsorbent dosage. The experimental design used Box Menken response surface. The result showed that Chitosan flake cross-linked by glutaraldehyde 4% has Au adsorption capacity more than 96% at condition pH, contact time and dosage were 2, 120 minutes and 0.8750 g, respectively. It resulted chemical properties such as isotherm model, kinetic order and thermodynamic were Freundlich isotherm, pseudo-second-order, spontaneous and exothermic, respectively. The desorption process showed that Chitosan flake cross-linked by glutaraldehyde was not selective to adsorb of Au (III) cyanide ions.
