Abstract : High dose ketoprofen administration as anti-inflammatory drug can cause gastrointestinal bleeding. To minimize this drawback, we have successfully double coated guar gum-modified chitosan microcapsules containing ketoprofen with alginate. The results showed that this double coating had improved the microcapsule’s stability in the gastric acid medium. The ketoprofen releasing kinetic models, both at gastric and intestinal pH, are dominated by the Korsmeyer-Peppas model suggesting that this action is following the diffusion mechanism. This kinetic model is the closest approximation to the real releasing condition.en
