Positive deviance has been used to describe the performance (regarding health, growth, and development) of certain children with other children in the same community and the family. The study aimed to analyze the determinants of positive deviance nutritional status and health of children under five years in slum area in Manggarai, Jakarta Selatan. The design of this study was a cross sectional study. Total sample of this study was 41 children. The study showed that there was no relation between maternal characteristics (age and education) with nutritional status and health status of children (r=0.302, p>0.05), but there was relation between nutritional status of mother (BMI) with nutritional status of children (r=0.302, p<0.05). Nutritional knowledge was related with nutritional behavior (r=0.315, p<0.05) and behavior of healthy life (r=0.530, p<0.05). Poverty, nutritional knowledge, nutritional attitudes, and nutritional behavior weren’t related with nutritional status. However, behavior of healthy life was positively and significantly related with nutritional status (r=0.330, p<0.05) and health status (r=0.381,p<0.05). Environmental sanitation wasn’t related with health status. No relationship exist between health status with nutritional status. The conclusion was that mother with good behavior of healthy life may improve children’s health and nutritional status.en
