dc.description.abstractNowadays, time becomes something that very valuable, for example, the time that is used for traveling. The shortest distance of the traveling, can make the time more efficient. Sometimes travel route has an alternative route, so the travelers have to choose the route that will be through with. Usually the travelers will choose the optimal traveling route, which is the shortest distance and less travel time. Genetic algorithm approach can be used to find the optimal route. Genetic algorithm will be implemented to find the optimal route from the starting point to the destination point. Optimal route that generated by genetic algorithms needs to be visualized to the map format for the users to know the traveling route that has been through clearly. This paper presents the Geographic Information System of Bogor City (SIGKABO) as the solution to visualize the optimal route in the map format. SIGKABO developed by using Pmapper framework on Windows platform with PostgreSQL 8.3 and PostGIS 1.3.5 as a database management system and MS4W as a map server. The system visualize the optimal route according to its real condition. The system displays the route with the buildings and facilities around the road so users can identify the location of the road that must be passed. We can conclude that the SIGKABO works well to visualize the optimum route based on result of testing procedure.en
