The potential of mid-infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy for the determination of secondary metabolites (total flavonoids) in Phyllantus niruri herb was investigated. The study are applying chemometrics technique (i.e. partial least squares, PLS) to modeling relation between reference value of total flavonoids and original or preprocessing FTIR spectra of herb. Based on the reference values, received by reference method from Department of Health, the correlation strength between th~se data and the FTIR prediction is shown by the R2 statistics. Furthermore, the standard error of cross validation (SEP) was found to be the best additional es.timate of prediction accuracy. Applying partial least square algorithm result satisfactory calibration statistics (SEP, R2) for the FTIR determination of total flavonoids (0,12, O.SO). The performed study demonstrates that FTIR can be used to rapidly and accurately predict total flavonoids from Phyllantus niruri.
