dc.description.abstractThis study aims to obtain a hybrid papaya varieties that have a high heterosis value to be released into new varieties. The research was conducted in May 2011 to May 2012 at Research Station PKHT IPB Tajur (250 m asl) and at post-harvest laboratory PKHT Baranang Siang, Bogor, West Java. This study used six genotypes consist of 3 hybrid genotypes IPB H93, IPB H91, IPB H39 and parent genotypes IPB 9, IPB 3 and IPB 1. Quantitative parameters were observed that plant height; first fruit position; amount of fruit, flower and leaves per plant; stem diameter; fruit diameter, fruit length and circumference of fruit; whole fruit weight, edible portion, 100 seed weight, and the whole seed weight; the skin and flesh firmness; flesh thickness; total soluble solid (obrix); juice pH; total tritated acid; vitamin C. Qualitative parameters were observed that fruit skin color, flesh color of ripe fruit, fruit shape, and the dominant central cavity. The result showed that hybrid genotype IPB H91 had a lot of character superior to the other between hybrids genotypes and had the better character than the parents.en
