The aims of this research were to determine the effects of paracetamol induction and kopyor coconut consumption on the activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and histophatology of rat kidney. These treatments were development of previous findings showing that paracetamol can cause negative effect to the body while kopyor coconut has the ability to improve human health, related with its capacity to prevent oxidative damage of human body. In this research, the positive effect of kopyor is approached through measurement of body weight, the activity of the ALP enzyme of test animals, anatomi pathology, and kidney histophatology. The result shows that paracetamol treatment using toxic dose was found to reduce body weight of test animals. Meanwhile, both kopyor and temulawak were able to counter the negative effect of paracetamol, indicated by the increase in the body weight of test animals. Other results showed that treatments using temulawak and kopyor of 3 time-dose demonstrated a positive effect on ALP serum activity in the kidney significantly as compared to negative control. Furthermore, pathologic observation of the test animals’ kidney showed that kopyor treatment of 3 time-doses was confirmed helping the kidney to recover from negative effect of paracetamol, better than the negative control.
