The Hull Form, Its Influence Towards Hull Resistance

Abstract
The hull form of a ship influences load capacity, stability, maneuverability and resistance that caused by hull form (hull resistance). Among those four factors, the hull form that makes hull resistance is a dominant factor in the total resistance experienced by a ship. The amount of this hull resistance gives direct influence of the ship speed. The objective of the research is ti know the influence of hull form towards amount of hull resistance that produced. A simulation method is used in this research to reach the objective. The result shows that hull form give significant influence towards hull resistance. The hull forms that give highest resistance are U-bottom and Akatsuki bottom, followed by round flat bottom and hard chin bottom. The smallest resistance is given by round bottom.
